A good comedian can turn an annual day, offsite or year-end party into the part everyone talks about on Monday. A wrong fit can make the room uncomfortable in the first five minutes. The difference is almost always in the choice of comic and the quality of the brief.
Here are 10 stand-up comedians from the Elleven Media roster who are popular with corporate audiences in India, followed by what to budget and how to brief them.

How to brief a comedian for a corporate show
- Ask for a clean set in writing. Agree on no profanity, no politics, no religion and no jokes about colleagues unless they have agreed in advance.
- Share the audience. Age range, languages, cities and how senior the room is. A leadership offsite and a sales party need very different material.
- Give them context. A few safe in-jokes, company milestones or the event theme help the comic make the set feel personal.
- Fix the running order. Comedy works best after dinner has started but before the music gets loud, and never straight after a long awards segment.
- Check the setup. A good microphone, a lit stage and an audience facing the performer matter more than most planners expect.
Live, virtual and hybrid shows
Many of these comedians perform virtual sets, which suit distributed teams and usually cost less than travelling to the venue. For hybrid events, make sure the remote audience can be heard, or the comedian will be playing to silence.
Frequently asked questions
How clean will the set be?
As clean as you ask for. Corporate shows are normally performed in a clean version, but always confirm it in the contract and share any sensitivities.
How long should a corporate comedy set be?
Thirty to 45 minutes is the sweet spot for most parties. Longer sets work for dedicated comedy nights.
How far ahead should we book?
Four to eight weeks for most comics, and earlier for headliners in December, which is the busiest month for corporate parties.
Can the comedian also host the event?
Some comedians, such as Abish Mathew, are comfortable hosting. Hosting is usually priced separately from a stand-up set.
