Sonu Sood almost attained the status of a real-life superhero during the COVID-19 pandemic by being at the forefront of relief efforts – from helping migrants return to their homes amid the lockdown to facilitating oxygen and hospital beds for the sick.

He even arranged for an aircraft to airlift 169 workers of a garment manufacturing factory in Kerala and helped them reach their home state, Odisha. As an actor he is known for his negative roles in many films.

He is well-known for roles in blockbuster films such as ‘Jodhaa Akbar’, ‘Dabangg’, ‘Shootout at Wadala’, ‘Happy New Year’, ‘Athadu’, ‘Simmba’, among others. He has also appeared in commercials for Apollo Tyres and Airtel. 

In 2016, he established the production house ‘Shakti Sagar Productions’, named after his father, Shakti Sagar Sood.

Awards and Accomplishments

Sonu Sood has received the ‘Apsara Award’ for ‘Best Actor in a Negative Role’. He also received an ‘IIFA Award’ for the ‘Best Performance in a Negative Role’ for his work in ‘Dabangg‘.

Sonu Sood received the ‘Andhra Pradesh State Nandi Award’ for best villain role and the Filmfare for ‘Best Supporting Actor- Telugu’ for the film ‘Arundhati’. He has also received the ‘SIIMA Award’ for Best Actor in a negative role in the Telugu film ‘Julayi’. He also received the ‘Star Dust Awards’ for ‘Best Actor in a Negative Role’ for his role in ‘Its Entertainment’ in 2014.
