About Mohinder Amarnath
Mohinder Amarnath is one of India’s most respected batsmen, renowned especially for his ability to handle fast bowling. Son of legendary cricketer Lala Amarnath, Mohinder carved his own identity through grit and technique. Over a career spanning almost two decades, he scored more than 4,300 runs in Tests (in 69 matches) with an average over 42, along with substantial contributions in ODIs. He also claimed useful wickets with his medium pace and was known for his adaptability to different conditions.

His defining moment came during the 1983 Cricket World Cup, where he played a crucial role in India’s title run, including being awarded Player of the Final. His performances in high-pressure overseas tours-especially in the West Indies-highlighted his mental toughness: facing fierce fast bowlers, enduring physical and psychological challenges, yet delivering match-turning innings. His ability to “come back” after slumps in form enhanced his reputation as a resilient competitor. After retiring from playing, Mohinder Amarnath moved into analysis, coaching, and cricket commentary. He is often cited as a role model for young players who aspire not just to natural talent, but perseverance. His cricketing legacy endures not only in statistics and titles, but in inspiring those who value technique, temperament, and tenacity above all.
