She played a supporting role in the black comedy Emotional Atyachar co-starring Ranvir Shorey, Vinay Pathak and Ravi Kishan. Kalki was praised for her performance in Shaitan. Subsequently, she starred in two of the highest-grossing films, comedy-dramas Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011) & Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013).
She co-wrote the screenplay for the crime thriller That Girl in Yellow Boots (2011), in which she also played the lead role. The film was screened at the Toronto International Film Festival, Venice Film Festival & the South Asian International Film Festival.
She frequently uses YouTube as a platform to address issues that she strongly supports such as health & education, women’s empowerment, gender equality & more. She has acted in several ‘viral’ videos including AIB’s It’s Your Fault, Culture Machine’s Printing Machine & Noise & Y-Films’s web-series entitled Man’s World.
In addition to her film career, Koechlin has written, produced, & acted in several stage plays in India. She co-wrote the dramas Skeleton Woman (2009), which won her The MetroPlus Playwright Award, & Colour Blind (2014). She made her directorial debut on stage with the tragicomedy Living Room (2015).
She has also hosted a travel show, Kalki’s Great Escape, which premiered on Fox Life in 2016.
