Under his
leadership, he transformed the dining experience at some of India’s most
prestigious properties, including the iconic Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai.
Over the years, Chef Oberoi has served global dignitaries including U.S.
Presidents, royalty, and world leaders, and was the force behind the launch of
some of Taj’s most celebrated restaurants such as Wasabi by Morimoto, Golden
Dragon, and Varq. His flair for curating innovative menus that blend Indian
traditions with international finesse positioned him as a pioneer in fine-dining
gastronomy.
In 2016, Hemant Oberoi launched his eponymous fine-dining restaurant in
Mumbai, bringing his global culinary vision directly to discerning patrons. He is
also known for his courageous leadership during the 26/11 Mumbai attacks,
choosing to stay back and protect guests and staff*an act that further elevated
his stature both in and out of the kitchen.
Chef Oberoi has received numerous awards for his contribution to Indian cuisine
and hospitality and continues to be a mentor, restaurateur, and an ambassador
for Indian culinary excellence on the global stage.
