Antara Mitra began her musical journey in Maslandapur, West Bengal, growing up in a musically inclined family and performing from the age of six. She first gained national attention as a contestant on Indian Idol 2 in 2006, which ultimately led her to pursue playback singing in Mumbai.

Her breakthrough came with the soulful duets Gerua and Janam Janam alongside Arijit Singh, which earned her widespread recognition across the Indian music industry. Antara’s versatility shines through her multilingual repertoire, having sung in Hindi, Bengali, Urdu, Kannada, English, and more.
