About Aanchal Malhotra
Aanchal Malhotra is a Delhi-based author, artist, and oral historian known for her powerful work on the human impact of the Partition of India. Through her writing and archival work, she documents how memory and material culture preserve stories of displacement, identity, and intergenerational trauma.

Her debut book, Remnants of a Separation, explored the 1947 Partition through objects carried by those who experienced it-offering a fresh, intimate lens on a monumental historical event. It was widely acclaimed and shortlisted for several prestigious literary awards. She later expanded this work with In the Language of Remembering, a continuation that captures the Partition’s lasting legacy on families and individuals across borders.

Aanchal is also the co-founder of the Museum of Material Memory, a digital archive preserving family histories through heirlooms and personal objects. Her first novel, The Book of Everlasting Things, blends lyrical fiction with historical depth, further establishing her voice as a storyteller rooted in memory and emotional truth. With academic roots in visual arts and a family background steeped in literature and bookselling, Aanchal brings a multidimensional, sensitive, and research-driven approach to documenting South Asian history and culture.
